INSTABILITY

When talking about human instability, thought inevitably turns to Rousseau:

“Everything is in constant flux on this earth. Nothing keeps the same unchanging shape, and our affections being attached to things outside us, necessarily change and pass away as they do.”

We seek an answer to the discomfort that derives from this kind of emotional and psychological instability, daughter of our times, through words that express deep philosophical meditation.

All environments; social, political, religious and relationships are affected by a growing and rampant instability, as if a landslide had made the land beneath our feet disappear; thus dislodging every psychological certainty and all stability.

Since stability, and therefore equilibrium, are the sum of a series of equilibriums, which together unite the entire Universe, it is almost unthinkable that nature is based on this instability, made so by a general imbalance.

In this work (44 x 44 x 8 cm) I have interpreted the phenomenon of instability with a slight offset of the face on one side (of 4 x 4 cm), deliberately contrasting a counterforce given by the fusion of the welding between the two geometric elements.

Not surprisingly, the Square was appointed to represent this; one of the geometrical shapes, along with the Rectangle and the number “4”, that encloses all of the force related to the extraordinary symbolism linked to the “Earth”, just as in a shrine.
